Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a lifeline for low-income married couples, particularly those aged 65 and older.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has scheduled the next SSI payment for October 1, 2024, which will benefit both eligible married couples and individuals. With the payment just around the corner, recipients can expect their funds in 2 days.

SSI Payment Amount

The amount you receive through SSI depends on your income and resources. For married couples, the maximum 2024 SSI payment is $1,415, while individuals can receive up to $943.

Keep in mind that reductions may apply if you have additional earnings or other benefits, and your payment could be lower than the maximum.

As of August 2024, the average SSI payment was approximately $698. For recipients aged 65 and older, this average drops to $575. On the other hand, younger beneficiaries receive more, with individuals aged 18-64 receiving around $744, and those under 18 receiving about $820 on average.

Upcoming SSI Payments After October 1

If you’re relying on SSI payments to manage your budget, it’s crucial to know the upcoming paydays. After the October 1 payment, the SSA has set two paydays for November:

• November 1, 2024: Regular SSI payment.
• November 29, 2024: This payment is for December, issued early due to the Federal holiday schedule.

Additionally, the January 2025 payment will be delivered on December 31, 2024, because SSA does not send payments on Federal holidays. The December 31 payment will reflect the 2025 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) increase.
